What is Self-Discipline and how is it applicable in the field of Leadership? When it comes to leadership, it starts with you leading yourself and holding yourself accountable. You can't be telling people what to do, if you are not willing to do it yourself. It's an old saying that you have to lead by example in order to others to follow you lead. For example, if you are big on punctuality and expect for other to come to work or meetings on time, then you need to do exactly the same. As soon as you start being late to meetings, you employees would think that it is a norm and will follow your example. Self-discipline is not limited to punctuality only, and it is applicable to everything that you do and expect as a leader. Another good example is dress code. If you expect for your employees to adhere to a specific dress code in your place of business, then you need to follow and adhere to your own expectation in order for others to implement your guidance. Every leadership attribute you teach others should be part of your daily life. This is applicable in business and at home. Therefore, if you are teaching your child to be responsible, the first person that your child will loop up to in order to emulate the behavior that's being thought is you.
