Hey everyone,
Problem solving is a critical attribute of a a successful leader. Leader is the one who solves problems and finds innovative, out of the box solutions. As leaders we face situations daily when we have to solve problems by finding or creating ways to improve products, processes, or policies. Solutions oriented leader is the one who comes to the table with suggestions vs. complaints, or the one who points blame on others for their own mistakes. When something does not go as planned some leaders tend to find reasons why plan has failed vs. accepting responsibility and proposing specific steps that must be taken to ensure that same or different plan is successful in the future. Own your problems and take appropriate steps to solve them. Problem acceptance could be a difficult but very important step for any leader to overcome. When happens most frequently is our pride or out ego get on the way, which makes it difficult for a leader to take personal responsibility for his or her own mistakes and actions. However, if we take a step back, analyze our actions, ask others for input and feedback, we often will find solution(s) to any problem or obstacle that we may be facing. As a leader I never stop learning and asking questions. There's always an opportunity to grow and expand out knowledge by being open to feedback and by utilizing information learned daily.
