If you think you can pre-plan your life, you are fooling yourself

Going through live one day at a time vs creating and managing personal life’s goals

What I’ve learned over many years is that life cannot be pre-planned, and instead, should be lived and enjoyed one day at a time. As much as we want to have complete control of what happens with us and to us everyday and in years to come, it’s something that we should let universe to do for us, because, life is so fluid and unpredictable that we simply do not know where our life would take us at any given point. Now, this is different from having a plan for our personal and professional development, both short and long-term. We can and absolutely should have our goals and vision of our dream future clearly defined and written down. We should also regularly review, update and add to our existing and future goals. Goal creation and management is our expected life’s path in its ideal state. However, as you may have seen or experienced for yourself things often do not go according to our plan and often require detours and search for ways and new paths to get back on track.

Why it’s important to understand the unpredictable nature of life?

When we know and understand that life can and often will change its course as we navigate through it, we are more prepared for various surprises, challenges, failures, disappointments, and successes that may be thrown our way. Sometimes, the challenges that we face in life could be extremely difficult to overcome and find a way to stay motivated and optimistic. However, we must always remember that there’s always a way, regardless how difficult to overcome something may appear. Please don’t get me wrong, I am not saying that it won’t be very difficult at times, especially when we are looking at ourselves in a mirror and asking how in a world would we overcome a situation or problem and not seeing an immediate solution. However, even though things may look unpromising or unsolvable, just know that it’s only a perception based on where you are at that point in time. Since we truly do not know what may happen in our life tomorrow or day after, we must be patient, confident in ourselves and those around us, and remain optimistic that everything will be ok soon. As long as we are hopeful and optimistic of positive outcome, we will eventually get there. Look at the alternative – being negative and stressed out when life is taking us through challenging periods, what does it get us? Does being in negative and depressed state of mind help us in any way? No, it does not. It simply directs our mind to focus on how bad everything is, instead of forcing us to look for solutions and ways to overcome specific problems and challenges that we encounter throughout life.

There’s always a way up, always!

Regardless how challenging things may seem, never stop the work of creating and following through on your set goals and going after your dreams creating the lifestyle you are seeking, while remember that life can and will throw challenges along the way where you would be required to change and alter your course. But remember that any challenges on your path are life’s test of your strengths, determination, character, and commitment to your goals and future you are in the process of building. So, don’t give up, don’t get discouraged, don’t lose hope. Difficulties you may be facing at this time are temporary, and there’s always a way up after a period of difficulties, tests, and misfortunes, always. The more you focus on the negative, the more of negative you will attract to yourself, and the other way around. Be the one who creates a positive energy in a negative situation, and you will begin noticing positive changes in whatever the situation you may be in. Even though you can’t control life, you can control how you react to life’s surprises.
