The importance of focusing on the bigger picture vs. on the immediate and the obviousDo we see and understand the obvious? I hope that we all know the obvious, that is maintaining a good health and taking care of yourself is very important. However, do we understand the reason why it is so important? I think many would say, well, maintaining a good health is important because we want to feel good, we want to enjoy all of the beautiful things that life has to offer, and so on. But, is that really it? Is there something else, something that sums up all different reasons into one? I think so. In my own humble opinion, I believe that one main overarching reason is to live and enjoy life. It may sound obvious, but we often tend to focus our attention on the immediate, on the first things/reasons that come to our mind, such as: maintaining a good health so we can work, make money, go on vacations, grow our careers and businesses, etc. But, instead of focusing on some immediate reasons, it’s important to realize and remember that good health is much more than that. Focusing on the bigger picture vs. on the immediate, easy to see reasons That one and very important reason to maintain a good health and to take care of yourself is – without strong health many if not most other immediate reasons become irrelevant. When our health is in poor condition, all other reasons disappear and are replaced with one and only focus – get well and get well quick. However, because of our failure to maintain our health in the optimum condition and/or not choosing not to see a doctor when we are not feeling well, or adhering to poor diet and lack of regular exercise, we often realize the importance of a strong health when our health state is in extremely poor condition. At that moment we recognize that something needs to change, we need to change and how we view our health and health of our loved ones. That is when we also recognize that all other little things that we thought were important to us, are no longer so important, and all we want is to get better, that’s all. Why are we waiting vs. choosing to act? Why do we wait? Why don’t we take care of our health at all times? Why do we continue to follow our bad habits, even though we know that some of our habits are diminishing our health day by day? It is all, because, we simply choose to focus on the wrong reasons mentioned earlier, instead of the one most important reason of all – live and enjoy life every day, not some days. So, if you haven’t been taking care of yourself, your health, your diet, recognizing and changing habits and behaviors which do not add positive value to our health and lifestyle, then you should consider a change, change for a better, stronger, and healthier you. Start today, don’t wait until tomorrow, as there’s no better time to change than now.
