Navigating mind overwhelmed by self-doubt

Picture
Great opportunities come and go and, therefore, we must be open to and willing to accept change into our lives. We get very comfortable and often resists change, because, we do not know what to expect, even when we know that opportunity that’s in front of us can be the change we’ve been waiting for a very long time. However, when opportunity finally presents itself, our mind overwhelmed by doubt. We begin questioning ourselves if this is something that we can and want to pursue, when deep inside we know that the answer is and has been for a very long time – ‘Yes.’

We created artificial barriers in our mind just to give us more time to think and potentially convince ourselves that the opportunity that we’ve been waiting for is not for us, or that we simply cannot pursue it, because, we do not have the time, energy, resources, money, or that our present life’s situation is preventing us from moving forward. But, is that so? Are we not ready or not capable to pursue the opportunity that we’ve been waiting for, or we are simply afraid of the unknown, and comfortable in our existing state of being?

Situation where we do not have to change anything, maintain everything as status quo without subjecting ourselves to the risk of potential failure or difficulty? I think we just get too comfortable and complacent. We know that if we do not change and take specific actions to create change in our present, nothing will change on its own. And yet, we desire more, we wish for something better and different for ourselves and those we love and care about. So, why not just give us an opportunity to create the future and life that we desire and so deeply want? Why not just place trust in ourselves and give it a try? Sure, we may fail. Sure, we may not like our new future state of affairs. But we would never know what that future state, that future life may look like unless we choose to set our internal fears aside and see what may be waiting for us on the other side of fear and the unknown. Who knows we may find ourselves living the life that we’ve always dreamed of.

It’s important to remember that when our mind begins going hundred miles per hour thinking of all the different reasons why we should not change anything, maintaining the status quo when new opportunity knocks on our door, is to take a step back and remind ourselves why a particular opportunity or change is important to us and why we were looking for a change? Also, it’s very important why it was and is important to our own future and future of those who believe and support us in life. I think that if we ask ourselves these questions when we are afraid and in doubt, and answer then honestly, we will remind and convince our mind why such change and opportunity was and is important to us.

Our mind’s function in life is to protect us, but it can also be our biggest and most important supporter when tough decisions must be made. We shouldn’t let your mind convince us that we are not capable of achieving something great and create positive change in our life. Instead, we should remind ourselves and our mind what’s important to us and why. Allow our mind to become our unwavering supporter vs. an obstacle to overcome when we are faced with an opportunity to create a change in our lives.
